Sexual Assault & Rape Survivors

This blog is for the survivors of sexual assault and rape. Please know, you are not alone. Many people of every age, race, and sex get assaulted and raped every day.
I am not a psychologist or a doctor. I am just another survivor trying to give advice and listen to those who have been effected by rape and assault.
Remember, NO means NO.

Anonymous asked: I wake up each morning and wonder if today is the day I will reveal to everyone how terrified I am. I wonder will I have an anxiety attack everytime someone gets to close. Sometimes I wonder if its worth getting out of bed. And then there are days like today when I see a site with so many people who are strong enough to stand out. Strong enough to say it loud and proud. Thank you for inspiring me and showing me exactly how strong we all can be.

You don’t have to tell everyone you’re scared. It’s a very private thing, that even I don’t just tell to anyone. It’s difficult to talk about.

It’s okay to be sad. But find good coping skills to deal with your sadness. Rather than hurt yourself or eat or being so miserable. Talk, excersise, even crying helps release stress and tension.

You’re not a victim, you’re a survivor!

The rape of men

Dying of shame: a Congolese male rape victim, currently resident in Uganda. This man’s wife has left him, as she was unable to accept what happened. He attempted suicide at the end of last year. Photograph: Will Storr for the Observer.

Of all the secrets of war, there is one that is so…

No, I am not lacking a sense of humour if I don’t find jokes about rape funny. They’re just not funny.

Anonymous asked: he acted like i owed him because he didn't try anything the night before when i was smashed. i guess i kind of believed i did too.

You didn’t owe him anything. The fact that he didn’t do anything while you were trashed shows that he knew it was wrong. You’re not required to have sex with anyone. Even if it’s a spouse. No means no!

metheghost asked: Here's a vent I thought i'd share here. -I know men get raped as well, but I hate when some guys comment on what victims wore. I hate how some guys say your chance of rape goes higher if you wear something like a nice outfit, and imply it's your fault a little. - It's not like all women start raping men, because they're walking around with no shirt on, in tight jeans! Rape is about power and control and debasing a person,NOT sex appeal! -Done ranting lol... great tumblr :

I agree completley. Men do get raped, but the ones who cause victim blaming need to just shut their mouths.

Thank you! Always here for support xoxo.
